Fashion Ethics

1. The changes I could cath were some color altering, stretching her neck and widening her eyes.

2. I don't think that it's okay to change a persons appearence as much as they did, they changed her physical composition.

3. With changes this drastic, I don't think that the situation never matters, this is always wrong.

4. Since so much makeup was already applied to her the photo was already fake, so in this situaton I don't think it mattered.

5. Photojournalism is capturing a real situation and fashion photography is trying to create the best looking photograph possibe, no matter how many shots or changes it takes to get there.

Photojournalism Ethics

1. I think that it should be situational but since the line is so unclear we have to resort to abosulte ethics.

2. I think that a photograph can capture som of the truth, but because of the limits of the frame it difficult to capture the whole situation.

3. The only decisions that I can think of myself making that alter the truth are really just deciding what to take a picture of, it's impossible to take a picture of everything.

4. It's important for news organizations to have standards so the people who trust that source know that they can continue to trust them.

Ethics

This one is horrible because they completly made up the event.

This one is not so bad because all the really did was darken it, none of the material was changed.

Madison

The school placed the face of a minority student on a pamphlet to stress diversity. It was wrong because they were changing events.

Sports Photo

It was a 200 mm lens with a shutter speed of 1/640 and an aperture of f/2.8.
The fast shutter speed allowed him to get the player in the air without very much blur.
The large aperture meant a short depth of field as the whole background is out of focus.

Avoiding Mergers

The photographer did a good job avoiding mergers with other workers and debris.

Framing

The wreckage in the foreground frames all of the wreckage in the backkground.

Balance

The three kids create a triangle which is important when creating balance.

Lines

The framing of the window is obvious and runs through the whole photo.

Photo Printing

First the photos had to be cleaned by sticking the negative in the Photoflow for 20 seconds and then carefully washing it off. Then you take the negative, slide it ito the tray, and load the tray into the enlarger. After focusing the image with your eye, you have have to use a grain focuser which focuses the image as much as it possibly can. Then you rip a sheet of photo paper to create a test strip, you try 4 different exposure times to see which looks the best. You take what you learned from the test strip and apply it to the real photo then develop it.

negatives

The only problem that I had on my negatives was that I had a ton of water spots.

#10 was focused and had some good action and expression in it, but there were alot of water spots.
#14 was also focused and looked like it had a lot action in it since it was more of a distance shot than the rest of them.

photo contest

I really like the colors in the photo. The lighting looks really good and so does the exposure. The photo is from the PIEA contest.

Pinhole Photography

I don't like this photo. There is lots of action in it. The person in the photo caused too much blur making it difficult to see whats going on.

This is the good one. There is not really any action or people in this photo. The object in focus is the building in the background and the background object is the statue in the middle. The photo is warped anlong the sides, making it look rounded.

Photo Critique

His face is not really expressing anything which means they did not get him at the peak of his actions. There is way too much dead space, so the frame is not being filled.

The photo gets him at the peak of his actions and it looks very candid since he is obviously not posing. The frame is mostly filled but there is a little too much space on the top and right sides.
